Super Energy Efficient Home on Hudson Bay Mountain

Net Zero Structural Insulated Panel Home Hudson Bay Mountain

Net-Zero has supplied a full Structural Insulated Panel (SIPs) package, including basement walls, main and second floor walls and roof panels for a new home currently under construction high up on Hudson Bay Mountain.

Devries Construction of Smithers, BC, is building the energy efficient 2700 square foot home which has 8 inch SIP walls (R32) and 12 inch thick roof panels (R50).  What is notable about the house (other than the view), is that even with the high elevation snow loads, the SIP roof panels are so strong that full 16 foot spans are easily achievable without any other structural support.

Energy-Efficient Chalet on Hudson Bay Mountain Built with SIPs

When Jodie and Rob Blackburn decided to build a private chalet on Hudson Bay Mountain, they knew a conventional stick-frame construction was not going to be the most efficient building for their needs.

“I began to research energy efficiency and affordability and your companies’ product quickly became the front-runner,” says Rob. “We chose Net-Zero Structure’s structural insulated panels (SIPs) for many reasons including ease and speed of erection as well as cost and availability.”
